Alpo Essay Contest For Your Dog

I confess I got this from one of the blogs I follow. The Pet Haven: Letting Dogs be Dogs They have a nice write up on letting dogs be dogs and how most of us haven't paid for a massage for their dogs or a spa day? I will admit Dispatch the Bichon Frise occasionally gets "puppy massages" but this is just me massaging his leg muscles. Considering he's a couch potato a great deal of the time he is solid muscle. The most interesting part of this article from the Pet Haven pointed toward Alpos Tell It Like It Is For Real Dogs Contest. The contest opened August 11 and runs until September 28, 300 words in your dogs voice (I suppose we could let them type like we usually do? ;-D) telling a real dog behavior they engage in and a picture of your dog doing the behavior. There's more to it than that but you can read it on the Alpo Site. You can enter 3 times for the same dog or for 3 different dogs. Good luck to everyone who decides to enter. The picture is of Dispatch being a real fishing dog, guarding the tackle against marauding alligators, or he thought he was. Bichons can be real dogs too!

Oh thank you Dispatch, we love contests. Mom is a nut about them. We will go there next. I love the picture of you. I am not into the spa thing myself as I have already bit my groomer, I don't think a spa would work out for me.

Hi Dispatch. My mom thinks dogs should work. I agree I guess. When I first came here, I didn't think that sounded like fun. But now I know it is! When she says, "Let's go to work," she means we have to do neat stuff like walk the horses out to the front pasture, or feed the cats at the barn. I just have to be there to keep an eye on things. It's an important job. Mommy says that's why I'm healthier now and happy all the time!

Sasha, that is part of the reason I don't go to the groomer anymore, the last one sort of said my mama had better maybe not bring me back? Just because I knew what they were up to and wouldn't come out of the crate? So I understand perfectly, a day in the chair by mama is my spa.

Sadie, HI! Your job sounds very interesting and important, right now I make sure mama doesn't pet that wolfie next door too much and when they all go eat outside the scraps are properly disposed of. Oh and I bark @ Dodge pickup trucks and wienie dogs.

Hi Dispatch, My spa consists of the very large pond in the back yard and the massage is mostly rolling all over the place in the soft cool grass. M.O.M. does the brushing and bathing when needed! And my work, well I have to go with M.O.M. on her 2 daily speed walks so I can watch out for mean wild things. I did chase away a real scary deer that M.O.M. refered to as "Bambi". I am not sure just what that meant. I may try an entry in that essay contest if I can get my toenails trimmed for better typing! Thanks, Mistaya

mistaya your spa sounds lovely, I believe Bambi may have been a disparaging remark toward the size of the deer but neverfear, my mama didn't think I needed to chase off the friendly great pyranees this afternoon. Humans!!
I like to roll in things too, the stinkier the better, mama screams, I don't know why I get a bath after it though?

Hi Dispatch
I have never been to a spa- just a bucket of water the kind horses drink out of- or that dang bathtub. If they think that shampoo that sits on me for 15 minutes is making me pretty- their crazy.

Tweedles, I prefer outside water myself, so much my mama used to carry warm water outside or let it warm in the sun. That was nice of her don't cha think? ;-)
