Dog Is Afraid Of Food Bowl

This is the dog.....

Here's the video of  him talking to his food a year ago.
If I hold the bowl up he will eat.  He goes in the kitchen where his bowl is and barks @ it.  Yes I could put the food on the floor and he would eat it.  I'm not a food on the floor kind of person.  He will eat out of plastic, he will also dump plastic bowls.  He is 6, he will probably face down the bowl when he gets really hungry.  BUT not until he tries to get me to hold it for him?  Not that he is spoiled, he also knows I have a supply of bones in the freezer and has learned to beg when I go to the freezer.....

Mistaya would not eat out of her bowl either...she would if I put it on the floor. But I too, am not a feed on the floor person.
I finally discovered that when she had her collar on---with her tags attached---the metal tags would hit against her metal bowl. The vet said she has extremely sensitive hearing and it hurt her ears when her face was down in the bowl. So she now eats out of a plastic bowl and the problem is gone.
Gosh, it sure would be easier if they could talk and just tells us what the problem is! Hugs and wags, Mistaya and M.O.M. Gail

Dis will eat out of his plastic bowl in the truck too. Thing is he has eaten out of correlware or ironstone bowls for years before with no problems?
I put some dog food and cream and a bit of pork chop in a plastic bowl, he is doing the bark snort snort @ the kitchen thing again....he ate Skeeters dog food outside....maybe it's cuz the bowl scoots across the floor, the plastic bowl in the truck is a double bowl so it has water in it all the time....

SUCCESS sort of, I put the bowl on a tea towel on the floor and with coaxing he got the pork chop bit out.... this is nuts...video in a couple days...I think he went to eat cream and dog food ALL by himself!

I had forgotten that I have Mistaya's bowl on a very small throw rug. Also holds her water dish. Seems to help. Gail

Reading your comment above answered my question about the bowl sliding around. It's interesting that he will eat out of the bowl in the truck but not in the house.

The video is so cute.
